COVID-19 and Medical Spas: What You Should Know

At Dolce Vida Med Spa, with locations in Westport, Trumbull, and Hamden, Connecticut, the safety and comfort of our guests and providers is our highest priority. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Scott B. Callahan, PA-C, and our talented crew of professionals have taken extensive steps to make sure our offices are safe for everyone.

In this blog, Dr. Callahan explains what’s being done at Dolce Vida Med Spa to make sure you get the great care you deserve in a safe environment.

How is COVID-19 spread?

COVID-19 can spread through airborne droplets when someone sneezes, coughs, or talks. If someone breathes in the droplets, this can lead to an infection. According to experts, the virus can live in the air for up to three hours.

Another way coronavirus spreads is through surface contact. If an infected person touches their nose or mouth and then touches a surface, you can get infected if you touch that surface and then touch your nose or mouth. Always remember to wash your hands thoroughly after touching a doorknob, countertop, faucet, or other surfaces people might touch. The virus can remain alive on plastic and stainless steel for up to three days.

Some research suggests that coronavirus particles can be found in fecal matter. So wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds after each bathroom visit to reduce your risk of getting infected.

COVID-19 and reopening medical spas

On June 17, the state of Connecticut began reopening spas and fitness facilities. We’re grateful for the continued opportunity to serve our guests.

As health care professionals, we always implement preventive measures to keep our guests safe. Medical spas in Connecticut are required to follow specific protocols during this reopening phase. Among other things, we’re implementing the following measures:

These are only some of the measures we’re taking. If you have any other questions about our protocols regarding COVID-19, please call us and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.

How to protect yourself against COVID-19

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or think you’ve been exposed, you should self-quarantine to ensure the virus can’t spread. There are many other ways to protect yourself and your loved ones as well, including:

Now that we’re allowed to open our doors once again, we’re following the strictest guidelines set forth by the state of Connecticut. Rest assured that your health is our top priority.
