The Technology

Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that uses a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a molecule naturally found in the body that helps break down fat. When injected into targeted areas, Kybella destroys fat cells permanently, allowing the body to metabolize and clear them away. Once removed, these cells cannot store or accumulate fat again. This makes Kybella a non-surgical solution for reducing submental fullness, commonly known as a double chin.

How It Works

Kybella is delivered through a series of small injections into the fat beneath the chin or other approved areas. The deoxycholic acid disrupts the membrane of fat cells, causing them to break down. Over the following weeks, the body gradually processes and eliminates these cells through its natural metabolic pathways. Comfort

A topical numbing agent or local anesthetic is applied before treatment to minimize discomfort. Patients may feel stinging or burning as Kybella is injected, but the sensation subsides quickly. Swelling is expected after treatment as the body begins the process of breaking down fat cells.

Downtime

Swelling, bruising, or tenderness may occur for several days to two weeks following injections. Most patients resume regular activity within a day, but visible swelling may persist as fat cells are metabolized. Results develop gradually over weeks, with continued improvement after each session.
